A link to pictures and info on a very nice wood-fired sauna and composting outhouse is here. Strange things excite me these days ;>

And remember, today is Buy Nothing Day. Whee!

And when you do buy gifties, here are some good ones:

The Historic Tree Nursery (store is here)

Heifer International (helping families around the world become self-sufficient through the gift of animals and training in sustainable farming, store is here)

Eastern Native Seed Conservancy

Heritage Seed Library (U.K.)

Yankee Gardener Heritage Seeds

Thanks for sharing your day -- that sounds so very lovely, and I believe you're right, that's *exactly* what it's all about. Experiences make us rich, not stuff, and it sounds like you had a day filled with abundant riches.

For me, the main purpose of Buy Nothing Day is to provoke a shift in my consciousness, an intentional change from consumer, back to human being. A family of consumers spends their time together, consuming things, shopping, pouring over catalogs, lusting after things they want and don't have. Consumers can never be truly present, because they have to always be focused on the next thing to consume. A family of human beings just enjoys each other's company, and can actually be present with each other in the moment.

I love your icon!
