Nov. 25th, 2005 09:22 amA link to pictures and info on a very nice wood-fired sauna and composting outhouse is here. Strange things excite me these days ;>

Date: 2005-11-28 04:19 am (UTC)For me, the main purpose of Buy Nothing Day is to provoke a shift in my consciousness, an intentional change from consumer, back to human being. A family of consumers spends their time together, consuming things, shopping, pouring over catalogs, lusting after things they want and don't have. Consumers can never be truly present, because they have to always be focused on the next thing to consume. A family of human beings just enjoys each other's company, and can actually be present with each other in the moment.
