best present ever
Jan. 8th, 2008 04:43 pmI've been mostly offline for well over a month now, between the Revels shows, holiday celebrations and associated mayhem, some travel, tons of snow, a whole succession of out of town houseguests (mostly former Casa Chaos Lovely Housemates), a very nasty illness, our first really full-blown kick-ass New Year's party since moving up nawth (the fireworks show was one of the best ever, though punctuated by an unfortunate misfire that shot a hot fragment under C's dress, resulting in a bit of butt-burning -- ouch!), and yet more joyous late-night celebrations (birthdays and anniversary) this past weekend.

But the very best gift ever came right around Yule, a doctor's report that my Ravishing Partner's latest test results came back totally clear of cancer -- so good in fact that they don't even want to test her again until a year from this Spring.
No matter what else has happened over the last couple of weeks, I just can't stop smiling. It was the very best thing I can think of to mark our 18th anniversary this past weekend (and just under three weeks 'till the 23rd anniversary of our first date). Okay, lots and lots of very hawt sex is quite lovely, too (anniversaries are aphrodisiacs, y'know), but, well, nothing whatsoever is better than the gift of time.
Here's to precious time with those we love, the very best gift there could ever be. I am oh so grateful for the gift, and do hope for much, much more to come.

Date: 2008-01-08 10:21 pm (UTC)We missed you both at New Year's! Perhaps one of these days you'll have an opportunity to make a trek out our way for a visit, we're only 2 hours from Boston...

Date: 2008-01-08 10:40 pm (UTC)I really want to make that trek some day. I get up to Boston for these short whirlwind visits sometimes. I like it up that way. I'd love to make a longer trek and see the country up there, too. :>

Date: 2008-01-09 08:37 pm (UTC)They do a summer Revels show here as well, not as much a formal sit-down (or stand-up-and-dance ;>) show like the Winter Solstice Revels, more of an all-day outdoor community festival, with singing, Morris dancers, puppeteers, games for the kids and so on.
I can't wait to get the DVD of this year's show (a Finnish/Northlands theme) at the cast party in a few weeks -- one of the few downsides to being in the show is that you never get to actually go SEE it...
And I was wondering how I "knew" you -- good to meet! And thanks for the kind words about the cancer news. I feel very, very blessed.

Date: 2008-01-08 11:29 pm (UTC)Oct. was the 19th for partner Lonnie and me. I think I'm somewhat alienated from the reality of those numbers. That sounds like such a long time, and I'm still young! Can so many really be only half my life ago?
Or maybe it's that regular demarcation seems like an odd way to remember all the time fluctuations that happen in a long relationship... or is it more constant in a house where Time is frequently entertained? ;-)
With children I suppose there are many more of those fluctuations...

Date: 2008-01-11 08:34 pm (UTC)18 in Hebrew numerology stands for "alive" (Chai),
So it only makes sense.
My love and blessings to you and Ms Ravishing....
