I've been mostly offline for well over a month now, between the Revels shows, holiday celebrations and associated mayhem, some travel, tons of snow, a whole succession of out of town houseguests (mostly former Casa Chaos Lovely Housemates), a very nasty illness, our first really full-blown kick-ass New Year's party since moving up nawth (the fireworks show was one of the best ever, though punctuated by an unfortunate misfire that shot a hot fragment under C's dress, resulting in a bit of butt-burning -- ouch!), and yet more joyous late-night celebrations (birthdays and anniversary) this past weekend.

But the very best gift ever came right around Yule, a doctor's report that my Ravishing Partner's latest test results came back totally clear of cancer -- so good in fact that they don't even want to test her again until a year from this Spring.

No matter what else has happened over the last couple of weeks, I just can't stop smiling. It was the very best thing I can think of to mark our 18th anniversary this past weekend (and just under three weeks 'till the 23rd anniversary of our first date). Okay, lots and lots of very hawt sex is quite lovely, too (anniversaries are aphrodisiacs, y'know), but, well, nothing whatsoever is better than the gift of time.

Here's to precious time with those we love, the very best gift there could ever be. I am oh so grateful for the gift, and do hope for much, much more to come.

:) I am...well, way beyond "happy."

We missed you both at New Year's! Perhaps one of these days you'll have an opportunity to make a trek out our way for a visit, we're only 2 hours from Boston...

I thought of you guys New Years and your yearly wonderful parties! (We had a great time at a party hosted by [personal profile] sjo )
I really want to make that trek some day. I get up to Boston for these short whirlwind visits sometimes. I like it up that way. I'd love to make a longer trek and see the country up there, too. :>

Hi there! Are you a Revels performer? I was blessed with tickets to see The Christmas Revels (CA) this year. I had never been before, but now I know that this will be a family tradition for us. We even sat in the front row! My daughter is still singing the Lord of The Dance song, and my husband and I wrote a Revels-inspired Yule song for our friend and her son who could not make it to the show due to illness.

I posted a photo of above friend's son to my journal, and [livejournal.com profile] anthologie said he reminded her of you so I added you as an LJ friend. And the circle goes 'round...

I commented before reading your entire post. I want to add that I am very happy to hear that a lovely family in this world has been given more time in life :)

Ah, yes, Revels is *such* a wonderful tradition. After seeing my first Revels show about four years back, I've been in the local Revels company (www.revelsnorth.org) ever since, and it's such a wonderful family-like group -- sometimes literally, there are some families with three generations in the company.

They do a summer Revels show here as well, not as much a formal sit-down (or stand-up-and-dance ;>) show like the Winter Solstice Revels, more of an all-day outdoor community festival, with singing, Morris dancers, puppeteers, games for the kids and so on.

I can't wait to get the DVD of this year's show (a Finnish/Northlands theme) at the cast party in a few weeks -- one of the few downsides to being in the show is that you never get to actually go SEE it...

And I was wondering how I "knew" you -- good to meet! And thanks for the kind words about the cancer news. I feel very, very blessed.

Big Happies on the occasion!

Oct. was the 19th for partner Lonnie and me. I think I'm somewhat alienated from the reality of those numbers. That sounds like such a long time, and I'm still young! Can so many really be only half my life ago?

Or maybe it's that regular demarcation seems like an odd way to remember all the time fluctuations that happen in a long relationship... or is it more constant in a house where Time is frequently entertained? ;-)

With children I suppose there are many more of those fluctuations...

Thanks! And I hear ya about the years -- we passed the mark of being together more than half of our lives a few years ago, and it was very odd, and somehow completely right and natural, too. I figure a relationship which lasts as long as yours, and ours, has, comes only at the intersection of huge amounts of love, great good luck, and very hard work.

Time flows like a river, time flies like an arrow... (and of course, fruit flies like a banana ;>) A great mystery, is Time, and I'm so glad for the precious gift.

Thank you, Garnet, and I know I'm certainly breathing a lot easier -- the circumstance makes it harder to forget the fact that you never really do know how much you have to share together, and that's a gift, but so is being able to let go of some of the knot of fear and worry.

Wow, I'm actually tearing over how much of a relief that good news is. (About your lovely wife, that is. I wasn't too terribly concerned about the hawt sex, I must confess. :P )

hee hee. Well, thank you, and plenty of hawt sex for you guys, too, and health to the whole family! Claudia and I were just recently talking with great fondness about our England/Wales/Scotland trip -- that was such a wonderful time. I digitized all the old Hi8 movies onto hard drive a few months ago. At some point when I have some more free time I was thinking of trying to edit and burn them onto a DVD, and if I do, I'll let you know in case you'd like a copy. We're talking about a U.K./Ireland family trip in 2009, maybe we could meet up there again!

Chel - what great news.
18 in Hebrew numerology stands for "alive" (Chai),
So it only makes sense.
My love and blessings to you and Ms Ravishing....
