best present ever

chelidonI've been mostly offline for well over a month now, between the Revels shows, holiday celebrations and associated mayhem, some travel, tons of snow, a whole succession of out of town houseguests (mostly former Casa Chaos Lovely Housemates), a very nasty illness, our first really full-blown kick-ass New Year's party since moving up nawth (the fireworks show was one of the best ever, though punctuated by an unfortunate misfire that shot a hot fragment under C's dress, resulting in a bit of butt-burning -- ouch!), and yet more joyous late-night celebrations (birthdays and anniversary) this past weekend.
But the very best gift ever came right around Yule, a doctor's report that my Ravishing Partner's latest test results came back totally clear of cancer -- so good in fact that they don't even want to test her again until a year from this Spring.
No matter what else has happened over the last couple of weeks, I just can't stop smiling. It was the very best thing I can think of to mark our 18th anniversary this past weekend (and just under three weeks 'till the 23rd anniversary of our first date). Okay, lots and lots of very hawt sex is quite lovely, too (anniversaries are aphrodisiacs, y'know), but, well, nothing whatsoever is better than the gift of time.
Here's to precious time with those we love, the very best gift there could ever be. I am oh so grateful for the gift, and do hope for much, much more to come.
