happy birthday to me

Okay, this has been one of the more bizarre starts to a new natal year I can remember, wonder what it augurs about the year to come. Come 10pm tonight, I shall officially be another year closer to venerable curmudgeonhood.

On another note, you know you've been flying rather a lot when your airline sends you a birthday card. Southwest Air (I *love* them) sent me a cool 3-D card with the nifty 3-D glasses.

But I can't complain a bit -- life is very, very good, if not simple, and I have four consecutive nights of birthday-related mayhem planned with friends and family. Saturday night I get to wear a whole bunch of peacock feathers! (no, I'm not going to explain that)

I've always figured getting older is what happens to you if you're lucky. May we all be so lucky.

Thanks! Someone in the house does, anyway...despite my attempts over the years to get rid of the evidence...who thought bringing a video camera to a surprise party was a good idea? Must've been Roth, blasted troublemaker... ;> Do you realize that was exactly 10 years ago? Wow.

Oh, and I also still have the, er, wee bit o' leather Jim and Wayne gifted me with that 'eve. Waste not, want not ;>
