For any who haven't seen it, Tim Burton's latest flick, The Corpse Bride, is delightful. Tim Burton, more than any other director I know, manages to combine the horrific and the sweetest, most sappy romantic into one seamless package, with kick-ass musical numbers and deliciously wicked humor to boot. He'd be one hell of a date, I suspect.

Speaking of which, this is a good movie to take a sweetie to...that is, as long as your sweetie is the kind of person who likes Edward Gorey and isn't easily grossed out ;>

Thanks for the recommendation. I ***LOVE*** Tim Burton, and especially The Nightmare Before Christmas, so I've been dying (ha ha) to see this.

Oh, then I suspect you will absolutely love this movie -- avarice, romance, true love, betrayal, all the classic themes, including a cute little singing maggot as the lovable sidekick. Delightful, and classic Burton.

Maybe I'll have to take the new man to see this one. :P

We went to see it last night -- at the drive-in, no less! It was great and I totally second your recommendation. Kids loved it too, but my kids tend to love darker stuff... don't know where they get that.

Tim Burton He'd be one hell of a date,

I just want to be his creative slave.

as long as you like Edward Gorey

Anyone into vampires should like Gorey. He designed the sets for one of the stage versions of Dracula.

I know someone whose sweetie is just like that ... my boyfriend.

Glad you said something! Everyone else who planned to see it didn't say anything afterwards and I was a wee bit worried.

As long as he's not the squeamish type...oh, wait, med student? He better not be squeamish ;>

So, sometime you gotta spill it -- what's the dirt on the new man?

lol. Uh, no idea ;> There's a drive-in not too far from here, too, and we love it -- childhood/teenage pleasures come to life. Seasonal, tho', drive-ins are less fun when it's below 0 degrees...

I have impatiently been waiting for this movie to come to my area of rural WV.... I am so jealous! My coven is going to see en masse when it finally arrives.

Whines,

He did? I didn't know that, though I'm not at all surprised. That must have been quite a show. Two of my Lovely Housemates are huge Gorey fans, which means we've got many, many of his books around the house.

Also seasonal here, but the other way 'round... not so much fun when it's 105 (and still dark!) outside either... but the other night, it was perfect. :-)

No, not the med student, someone entirely new. :) Tech geek, and not squeamish. I'll see about the dirt. :P

He did? I didn't know that

Each set was all black & white pen & ink looking with one touch of red.
