more nifty discoveries
Jul. 28th, 2005 05:15 pmI just ran across these folks: D Acres, who run an "Organic Farm & Educational Homestead" about 30 miles from me. Some of their programs and workshops include Garden Bed & Pasture Expansion, a Community Building Photovoltaic Installation, and a cob and cordwood in-groundSauna/Herb & Lumber Dehydrator. These are all projects on my to-do list, and they definitely seem like kindred spirits -- I may well take a drive up there sometime after this weekend and take a good look at what they're doing.
And I just got reconnected (via LJ, no less) with some dear old friends who a couple of years ago picked up and left high-tech jobs in the Boston area and moved to New Zealand, and are now raising livestock (llamas, alpacas?) on their own homestead (*waves at Stephen and Tam*). Way cool.
