drumming fun
Jun. 14th, 2005 03:27 pmA couple of short MP3 clips from the drumming ensemble with whom I've been learning Malinke polyrhythms. Good stuff, if you like West African drumming:

BTW,
contentlove, I've got complete notation sheets for two 4/4 Malinke polyrhythms, "Numun" and "Diyabanna," and notes on words and music for Diyabanna. Numun is the blacksmith's song, and Diyabanna is a song about broken love. Like almost all Malinke rhythms, they use three sizes of dunduns/bells (Sangban, Dununba, Kenkeni), but the djembe support parts and several solos are notated for each. Let me know if you're interested, I can probably scan them in and email them to you. Otherwise I can just bring 'em with me the next time I'm in Austin and we can swap rhythms then.
