Animal Rights Activists Face Trial under Terror Law
(Link to Truthout reprint if you don't want to do the free reg thing for NYT)
I don't know most of the specifics of this case, or the detailed circumstances. But regardless of whether or not the specific tactics used by the animal-rights activists in this situation were appropriate, it is clear that various business and government interests have been taking full advantage of 9/11 to push through "anti-terrorism" laws focused at specific kinds of activism and dissent.
Those in power write the rules of the game. And you can bet that rules will continue to be rewritten to classify as "terrorism" anything that proves too effective against the status quo.
