It's all about the image, baby.

I haven't seen MTV in years, but this little vignette is further evidence that what we used to call "Marketing TV" has continued to evolve into pure opiate of the masses. It's designed to peddle a visually overstimulating vapidly titillating soft-core simulacrum of youthful rebellion, while functioning primarily as a channel through which to push consumer goods to that crucial and lucrative youth market segment. Gosh, political statements made through rock music? Can't have that, might offend an advertiser. Feh.

Sex and drugs and rock and roll is now Sex Sells Nike. No surprises here, sad to say.

". . .Activate your love spells
Synchronize and reverse your hells
Agitate your alligator brains
Rip into the heart of the pain
In your televisionary dreams
Your imagination's always free
To turn the spirit of the television
inside out
This is what it is all about

Television television
Televisionary television

Love song for my little terrorist
The way you look at me
is like a deathly kiss
Every time I see myself in you
I remember why I created you
Relax Be brave
Take back the airwaves..."

*lol* No, tho' Dr. Marc will be staying with that Trent in a couple of weeks on his way up here with Sue -- they're moving up here mid-June. I swear, it'll be like Old Home Week here soon...

Cool - we'll have to snag Marc and Sue for Cu Na Mara evenings and long, *long* conversations... ;>

And, my godz, yes. Trent is so very yummy. And well-aligned in many ways. And, an Edward Gorey fan, to boot. I deeply desire his wardrobe from the "Perfect Drug" video...
