too funny. They're right, though. And Austin got edged out, I suspect, largely because 4 full seasons and skiing are things I like.

Well, that'll make for a bunch of unhappy Austinites.

I apparently belong in San Francisco, myself. Or maybe Seattle. Or maybe Honolulu.

That's a very sweet thing for you to say, Crow, and I needed that today. Thank you :>

I think my days of living in or around a city are over, but after my recent visit, if I had to pick one for some reason, Austin would be way, way up there on my list -- it has such a lovely feel to it, and there are so many delightful people in the Tejas community.

San Francisco is great, particularly if you've got gobs of money. I know a lot of people who've left in the last couple of years for just that reason, though (too expensive). Seattle is lovely, but you have to really like cloudy days ;> I lived in Hawai'i for 10+ years, and it's a great place, like San Francisco, if you're well-off (*average* home price in Honolulu is $360K, rent for a one-bedroom apartment can be $1200+, food and gas prices reflect the fact that everything has to be shipped in, etc), and the economy is heavily dependant on tourism, so tends to fluctuate wildly. But if you ever win the lottery, it's a great place... ;>

It might be sweet, but I'm certain that moreso it's true.

In all actuality, the likelihood of my ever moving northwest is up in the air. If I did, chances are I'd nestle myself in Portland. It's very close to all my writin' activities. Plus there's all those groovy peoples there, too.

Portland is definitely groovy. I keep sayin', we just have to all work out that teleportation spell, and all of these pesky distance problems will go away...
