My Ravishing Partner and I, Lovely Housemates, and Beamish Boy got back home about 2am last night, after a 4-hour flight delay coming home due to weather (bleah, airport was packed wall-to-wall with delayed and stranded travellers, but at least you can get a decent pint in the BWI airport). My Ravishing Partner had planned out a surprise weekend away as a late Father's Day present. All I knew going into it was that we were all going somewhere, I needed to block out the weekend (Friday afternoon until Sunday night), and to pack light and wear comfortable shoes. Fun!

We flew down to D.C., were met by former housemates and dear friends who live a few blocks from where we all used to live, and spent the weekend talking, laughing, catching up on triumphs and tragedies, eating at old haunts and favorite hangouts, exploring the museums (Air&Space for Forest, Sacker for me, and the Jim Henson exhibit in the Ripley Center opened on Saturday, yum!), wilting under the heat (yeah, we've gotten *so* unacclimated to D.C. weather...), meeting up with many old ex-housemates and friends from all over (it was so great to see you all, and for those who didn't get the news yet, Roth and Elizabeth are married(!), and she's due with their first child in October, and Feather and Cheryl had their second, a girl, 2 weeks ago). And Saturday night, after dinner at Jaleo's (YUM!), as a special surprise treat for Forest (and for me, since I got to watch him watch it), C took us all out to a Weird Al Yankovich concert. Now *that* was a cultural experience...

Tired now, and much catching up to do all over the place, but it was a lovely weekend away, and a wonderful way to celebrate how precious family and friends are, and how important it is to take a few days every so often for pure fun.

I thought the first kidnapping was better, but Feather might disagree...

Likewise, it would have have been lovely to see you! I had almost zero warning about the trip location (found out where we were going just before we left), and just managed to get in a rushed LJ post to Brad and Ellen, but didn't hear back from them (they just moved, no surprise!), and I didn't have a chance to get on email and post anything else. There were apparently a few folks in town already for Mike P's (second) wedding, so Roth and Elizabeth were in town. It was a quick in and out, but I'm sure we'll be back down before too long, and perhaps with more advance warning, we can set something up!

How fantastic! Must get back in touch with Feather and congratulate him (and Cheryl). Would love to know how to get back in touch with Roth.

roth only has paper mail, being roth, but beth has email. I'll send you both via email if you want.

This is so great! Glad to hear about the weekend trip, C, you are one lucky dog!
