You know when I began gardening I used blood & bone meal as well as manure, but switched when I became vegetarian (I've used seaweed with success, but hope to brew some worm tea this year). I have to say though, in my heart I still lean towards animals and plants working together and tend to agree with the fella in this article who said "The optimal farm is where livestock are integrated into the land, not separated from it".
Despite vegetarian sensibilities, If I had a farm that included animals - I'd want to incorporate all those elements and allow them to work together.
