Just scored tickets for the Robert Plant/Allison Krauss concert in June for me, Ravishing Partner and Lovely Housemate. Whee! See, Boston's good for *something*... ::ducks while orca_girl and other Beantown friends throw things::
The last time C & I were in Boston for a concert, it was also at the BoA pavilion, and was Robert Plant's last tour, Mighty Rearranger -- that's a nice venue, if terribly overpriced like every other big venue these days...
I can't wait -- the only other concert that C & I have gone into Boston for so far was the last Robert Plant tour (Mighty Rearranger). That man is still big-time sexy, has taken good care of his voice, and is still hugely musically creative and continually re-invents himself and his work, instead of (as would be quite understandable) resting on his laurels and doing "best-of" work. Certainly I'd imagine he doesn't need the money at this point. I really admire that lifetime devotion to one's art.
The local music scene is really good, but mostly for smaller artists, the really big names don't usually come closer than Boston, so into the city we go! Actually, as far as cities go, Boston is one of my favorites, and it's only 2 hours away, it just seems farther than it is ;>
Yes, I'm a Plant fan myself (my father raised me on Zeppelin). I also adore Alison Krauss and thinks she's amazing live. I love her voice and I'm such a sucker for the fiddle...
I haven't been to Boston, though it interests me. The art museums alone would make me giddy.
Enjoy (and post a review if you have time/feel called).

Date: 2008-03-10 04:10 am (UTC)Yer dad has good taste! That's how I first knew that C was cool -- on our first date, she knew all the words to the Zeppelin songs I was playing :)
I've never seen Alison Krauss live, and I can't wait...

Date: 2008-03-09 09:10 am (UTC)Alas Norwich is a little out of the way these days for the really big bands these days - we're very good for smaller names right now.
