I know a lot of you have been waiting for this, so I'm going to go ahead and send it out now. Consider it the unofficial, or pre-announcement -- the final shiny and official version will have the daytime path info and teacher bios, but all of the site-specific info (dates, cost, etc) are now final. Registration forms will go out the weekend of March 1 (probably on Sunday), and will be sorted by postmark. If you don't hear back after sending a request for the form, feel free to drop me a line and/or reply here. Every so often someone's emails get stuck in the spam email filter for some reason, or something is lost in transit...it's those dang aether bunnies, I swear...

Warm hearth, and see you in June!

ANNOUNCEMENT:
Summer Feri Camp: "Sex, Love and Power"
with Karina, Michelle, Storm, and Thorn
Thursday evening, June 26 - Sunday, June 29, 2008
For more information or to get a registration form, please contact Chelidon at chelidon@mythosphere.com Registrations will be processed first-come, first-served, and it is possible that this event will fill quickly, so early registration is strongly suggested.

There may be an additional one-day session on Monday for pre-approved advanced students, depending on interest.

*******

Times:
(exact starting and ending times to be determined soon)

Thursday evening, June 26 -- Sunday, June 29 noon

This event will be drug- and alcohol-free. No illegal drugs are allowed onsite.

Contact: For more information or to get a registration form, please contact Chelidon at chelidon@mythosphere.com or call 603.863.8393.

Cost: Event cost is $350, with a $75 deposit to hold your space (full info on registration form). Fees includes all classes and rituals, three nights dorm-style lodging (Thu-Sat), snacks on Thursday night, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Friday and Saturday and breakfast/brunch on Sunday. A $30 discount will be available for tenters (limited availability, first-come, first-served) or those choosing to stay off-site at a motel or B&B (list of nearby recommended establishments available upon request). There are two private rooms available for couples to share.

Facilities:

The event will be held at the Hermitage, a small intentional community located amongst the woodlands of New Hampshire (accessible from Manchester, NH and Boston Logan airports, Amtrak (White River Junction, VT), and via bus service), surrounded by many thousands of acres of hikeable woods. The site is dedicated to minimizing our carbon footprint and fostering sustainable living while providing a comfortable and restorative space for all. All primary heat and hot water is via carbon-neutral local renewable wood sources, with solar and microhydro projects in the planning stages. As much as possible of the food served onsite is grown locally.

During off times we invite you to wander the woods and swim in the streams, read in the common rooms or on the deck, sit by the fireplace in the house, the fire circle in the paddock, or the wood stove in the barn, drum, sing and play music, or soak in the hot tub in the greenhouse. Sleeping arrangements are dorm style, most in the converted barn, a few in the main house and at a house a few minutes away. Limited tenting is available in the paddock and on the land. Houses have cats, but the barn/dorm space is cat free. All participants will have access to the showers and common spaces of the main house, and outdoor showers will also be available in the paddock next to the barn.

Does "Houses have cats, but the barn/dorm space is cat free." imply that the two rooms for couples are catful?

Date: 2008-02-26 12:56 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chelidon.livejournal.com
Yes, both (semi) private rooms are in houses, and all the houses have cats. A couple of the bunks in the barn are a bit longer and wider than the rest (not a full/twin, but bigger than a typical camp mattess), and you might get two in them, or alternately, it's possible that we could put an air mattress on the (wood) floor in the barn.

From: [identity profile] ambar.livejournal.com
We brought an air mattress to Winter Witchcamp and could just as easily bring it out again.

(Background, for the curious: I'm somewhere in the 99.9th percentile for reactivity to dust mites; [livejournal.com profile] elfin's reactivity is such as to make me look practically allergy-free. So we travel with an ever-growing kit of anti-allergy bits and pieces, like the air mattress.)

Date: 2008-02-27 01:48 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chelidon.livejournal.com
Yikes, hmm. Well, I have to in all honestly say there isn't a place here that is dust-free, including the barn, which is pretty clean, all things considered, wood floors and nice wooden bunks, but it is...well, a barn. Often for events here we segregate high-allergy folk into the basement apartment, which is cat-free and has a HEPA filter, but for this event that space will by necessity be teacher central for the whole team...

The air mattress does sound like a good idea. We have some here, but perhaps bringing your own. which you know you don't react to, would be best.

Date: 2008-02-27 02:31 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ambar.livejournal.com
Actually, the barn doesn't sound bad at all -- dust mites like to live in cloth, like carpeting and mattresses and pillows, which is to say we've had some rough nights in quite clean-looking hotels. :P Hurray wood flooring, and as long as teaching space is catless, we should be fine.

Date: 2008-02-27 02:48 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chelidon.livejournal.com
Okay-fine, sounds good. One out of three path spaces may be in the house, which has cats, but also wood floors -- dining can be either in the house or out on the deck or elsewhere on the land.

From: [identity profile] ambar.livejournal.com
Lovely. I think we can leave the path space question in "cross that bridge when you come to it"-land. :-)

Coolio - go ahead and hold my space, I've started negotiating with the spice to get me there :-)

Date: 2008-02-26 04:14 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] chelidon.livejournal.com
Sounds good, good luck with negotiations! As far as gear, in all seriousness, my advice is just not to worry about it -- you'll have plenty to do attending camp, and I'll have plenty to do both hosting and attending, and if we manage to squirrel away some time in there to play, it'll likely be a quick impromptu thing, and I can just break out shinai and masks or some such.

Date: 2008-02-26 04:29 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] roy-batty.livejournal.com
Excellent. I might be able to bring a pair of bag gloves and training knives at least, but not having to hoss around gear is certainly preferable.

In all seriousness as well, ISMAC 2008 is likely not going to happen for me (again), but starting to plan for 2009 might make it doable. Just sayin' :-)

Rumor has it that you're inundated with registration form requests for Feri camp. While I hate to add more to the rush, I'd love a form when you get a chance (and I can be patient). Thanks - Jen (Chicago)

Will do...and somehow I missed that fact that you were on LJ! I sent you a very brief note earlier today, in part to let you know about the Feri Camp -- did you get it?

BTW, too funny -- Herne, eh? Among other things, Chelidon = Caled + Haerne. One of my peeps, or perhaps the other way around ;>

From: [identity profile] jennlynn-green.livejournal.com
Thank you so much Chelidon...I didn't get a note from you today (unless I got over-zealous with the delete button without realizing it). Sorry about that!

Yes, I'm one of Herne's as well. So now I'm Herne's and Freya's - (*ehem...gulp*)

You know, If we're not careful, we're going to become the serendipity twins. ;>)

lol, indeed.

So, hmm...iz your addy the sbcglobal.net one? I definitely sent a note, and a line or two over the weekend as well -- maybe stuck in the spam filter? If not, I dunno -- I can try to send from a different email account I suppose.
