Feb. 11th, 2008 10:55 pmIt's 11pm, and I'm just getting to Buffalo now, which means I likely won't hit my stopping point, London (Ontario, that is) until 1am-ish, assuming a smooth border-crossing. Ugh. Thank goodness for Tim Hortons and large coffee.

But, well, as long and grueling a day as this has been, I love road trips, and I love long-distance driving. It's such a more human-scale way to travel, compared to the just totally unpleasant nastiness (particularly these days) of air travel. Next best (after walking/biking, then driving) is train travel.
Saying goodbye to Lovely Housemates a mere short day after just seeing them again after their week away of raucous mayhem in New Orleans is a bummer, but I get to see my Ravishing Partner again on Thursday, we get to share a camp together for the first time since...hmm, last time we were at Winter Camp -- and we get to road-trip back home afterwards, which I am eagerly anticipating. I feel quite blessed to have a partner who I look forward to be cooped up in a car with for about 2 days straight. So much time to talk, and always so much to talk about! :) We're going to get to take another road trip together to Canadia in about a month, an old friend (the original founder of MidAtlantic/SpiralHeart Reclaiming) asked us to come up and teach a weekend on ritual planning, so off we go! Really, it's a good excuse to take another trip together.
Okay, enough of a road break for me, time to get back on my way, then a wee bit of sleep and a very early start -- tomorrow is 13+ hours on the road again. Have a week full of delightful surprises, and chat again later next week!

Date: 2008-02-12 11:12 am (UTC)I know what you mean about road trips - it's funny how much time I've spent in the car with Brian since I first met him, and I never feel cooped up. I love going places and seeing things with him as my company. We've been entirely across the country together now twice, and up and down and back and forth enough places to make up probably another couple of country-crossings, heh. We just like to GO! So enjoy your roadtrip, enjoy the land. :)

Date: 2008-02-29 01:59 pm (UTC)Sure, we'll be around -- I've got to make a run to pick up some wood sometime Sat morning, and I think Claudia, Forest and Angelica are going out to some kind of night-time snowshoe/music/bonfire thing out by Lebanon somewhere on Sat night. If you're going to swing by, give a call before you come, though, to make sure we didn't decide to bail for Salt Hill or something. Also, looks like possibly nasty weather this weekend, be safe!
Funny, I had a dream last night where I was in a public place (bar, I think) with someone, might have been you, and saw a big bearded guy who the person I was with decided he wanted to talk to, and it turned out the guy was a Horde brother. Funny, your comment about Madison must have jogged some brain cells about the Horde.
