For the first time ever, the 2007 Winter Solstice illumination of the passage and chamber at Newgrange will be streamed live on the internet.

The webcast and an exhibition at the Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the re-discovery of the Winter Solstice Phenomenon at Newgrange by Professor O’Kelly in 1967.

The Winter Solstice event from inside the chamber at Newgrange will be broadcast on the mornings of Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd December 2007. If conditions are good the rising sun will illuminate the passage and chamber between 8:58am and 9:15am GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).

Nah, though that would have been nice, was visiting my grandmother and relatives for a couple of days prior to the holidays -- she's in failing health, but even mid-90s, almost blind and 85 lbs, with help she got herself out with us to a restaurant Fri evening and ate a good meal, had a few drinks and smokes and enjoyed herself. I hope I'm as spry (not to mention alive) at that age...

Awesome pics (both of them)! Aerianna and Mike are staying with us over the 1st, so they have the basement room (along with whomever else crashes with us, so far nobody), but my office is free for you two (with an electric heater, it gets nippy in there over the winter with the door closed). Alternately, there's Angelica's spare room if you'd rather.

Kiera and Sartakh will be over the night of the 26th (I think) and the 27th on their way home from visiting relatives -- it's a weekday, but you're certainly welcome to swing by if you like and visit while they're here.
