This cool, damp, misty Fall day (first frost may come this weekend...) has me thinking of next year's planting, when we're planning to expand the gardens and do more food crops (this year's experiments were mostly successful, and quite delicious!)

We are also starting to expand our gardens. I built a set of raised beds this year (8'x2', four of em so far), which is a good start. It is really helping us keep control. I also have the posts for the start og our grrenhouse, planned to be about 20' x 12'. That should go up over the summer. With the local climate, the greenhouse will really expand our growing season. In an emegency it would be easy to convert a paddock or two to giant gardens, and we could always pick up some sheep or a cattle-beast or two for the freezer, plenty of neighbors do.

Plus it's fun and tasty!

Dude, I just love the fact that we ended up doing the same thing half-way around the world from one another. Most of my free shekels go into the land these days, but I still want to make it out there for a good long visit at some point. And you and Tam are always welcome here.

We're doing raised beds, too. C's starting to get into sheet mulching. I've thought about turning the paddock into gardens and orchard space, but I'm not ready to give up the possibility of livestock (I'm in the final bits of the process of turning the horse barn into dorm/meeting space, but everything I am doing is with an eye towards dual use or reversibility should we decide to revert and do llamas or some such)
