After noting the wild enthusiasm with which some lovely friends responded to the mention of Silly Hat Day, I hereby suggest the following viral meme:

Today IS Silly Hat Day. Wear a silly hat for at least part of the day today. If you don't have one (*gasp*) handy, make one up. Write "Silly Hat" or anything else you like on a piece of paper, fold it up, or staple it, tape it, whatever, and stick in on your head. If you really feel ambitious, put a propeller on top, or a flower.

If you don't feel comfortable doing that, tough. Do it anyway. But if it would really, *truly* mess with your professional ability to get your job done or cause more harm than good to your mental attitude (for instance, if you could get fired for it), then make yourself a Virtual Silly Hat -- come up with the absolutely most ridiculous, obscene, ludicrous, and/or weird, weird hat you can think of, get really creative about this. Now virtually put it right on/over your head, and then write yourself a big ol' note in bold text that says "I AM WEARING A SILLY HAT" and put the sign somewhere where you will look at it many times today to remind you about your hat.

Do it. Do it now. You will be a happier person for it.

And pass this on. Quick! Silly Hat Day is already nearly half-over!

Until next Silly Hat Day.

Coincidentally, B wore a Silly Hat that I'd made to school today.

Heh, and mine was a size or two too big. But then, it is Lyrus' hat he gave Dave after our first (or was it second?) Starwood. Kinda hard to fill his shoes ... er, hat. :)

Second, I think, 'cause I remember that, and I wasn't there the first year you guys went, right? The second year we slept in the Mongolian cloud tent with our stuff in that big silver thing, and the next year we brought the yurt, I think (and had to build a new hana section onsite 'cause I left one at home...)

No, the year that we all spent Starwood in the yurt of slack (the only Starwood that we've been to at the same time as you) was actually our fourth Starwood, I think. The first year was with just Davis and a certain unmentionable big-haired person. I think that was 1998. The second year was the year Loki went so 1999. The third year ... let's see, that was the year that we moved to NY, I can't remember who else aside from Davis we camped with that year. That was 2000. Then the following year we missed it and that was when you went and had to rebuild the section because I remember Davis telling us all about it. Actually we might have missed two years ... damn I can't remember. Then the following year we were able to go again and we brought Babs and Ronn with us. That was the same year as my show down in Union Square that you and Lyl attended. Okay that was 2002 so it was just one year we missed. At any rate, I know we've been to four Starwoods and only one of them with you. The first two we still lived in Iowa and we stopped to stay the night at Nema and Lyrus' house in Ohio on the drive home, and one of those visits was when Lyrus bequeathed his big amish hat to Dave. :)

If frop falls in the woods, Fnord?

Aa, all the Starwoods kinda tend to blur together when the main objective's to Slack as much as humanly possible... :>
