So, a friend who shall remain nameless (ahem) had a dream that [livejournal.com profile] snakey and I were teaching a camp path together oriented around making magickal chocolate desserts. Brilliant.

Here is the very rough first draft of a path description, off the top of my head.

Light, Shadow and Deepest Desire: the path of the Chocolate Warrior.

In this path we will explore the inherent duality of light and dark, above and below, will and desire, manifestation and grace, through exploration, contemplation, and consumption of large quantities of high-quality chocolate. Some are irresistibly drawn to the richness, mystery, and earthy, bitter reality of the dark, while others find themselves naturally uplifted and fulfilled by the other-worldly and transcendent bright essence of the white, which, like Diana's robes, are utterly unsullied by the cocoa solids and other bitter things of man. Yet White and Dark alike, though seemingly irreconcilable poles of a deep duality, are still both chocolate, and indeed, delicious, showing us the hidden way of wisdom to a third road, which honors duality without being limited by it. We shall consume these bits of embodied truth -- Ghirardelli, Godiva, Cote d'Or, Dolfin, Cluizel, Valrhona, and many, many lesser-known but even more delicious pieces of wise chocolate lore, and from our place of deep desire, they will sustain us, feeding our bodies, souls and happy places with deep, rich, fulfillment that we may take out into the world and share with others...if they're really, really good.

Note: despite the fact that the sacred process of chocolate production involves the creation and use of a substance called "chocolate liquor," this path is Clean and Sober. Well, "clean,"' except when we're all sticky and gooey and rolling around in Ghirardelli cocoa butter sauce (the "Chocolate-People" ritual), and sober other than the nearly-continuous chocolate buzz all week, but otherwise...

Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

What about a "food" camp -- where all the paths about different kinds of food and the experience thereof? In addition to this chocolate path (which I would deeply enjoy and then, ahem, experience some ill-effects after), there could be the Salad path, with chopping and grating as well as masterfully mixing dressings, finding just the right endive to put with just the right lettuce and the perfect apple ... the Tofu path ... the Potato Path (mashed, baked, garlic-smashed, scalloped, fried-with-onions, french-fried, frittered, pancaked (three ways, just like the triple Goddess) ...

Oh dear, now I'm _really_ hungry.

Oddly, I love the combination of dark chocolate and Guinness. I detest each of these by itself. But the combination is very good.

The gooey, dark, deliciously bitter core of the Work...what better way to symbolize the Black Heart, after all?

And now Fetch is begging for a piece of the cardamom-mint-espresso brownies that I made for a reception yesterday.
