Performing marriages, handfastings and other rites of commitment is one of those "clergy" things I do very, very rarely. I just won't get involved magickally with a partnership unless I'm pretty damn sure it's right for all involved, they're serious and committed, and I believe it's going to last. Folks can do whatever they want, with whomever they want, but when I marry people, my work, energy and intent is itself a part of the Working, so I need to believe in it just as much as they do.
And it is such a joy to do this sacred work, when it's right. There are few more blessed events than the joyful, intentional and committed joining of lives, of families, of clans, celebrated and witnessed by friends, family, and the gods. What a blessing, a delight, and how very deeply and fully human.
