A bit of a progress report...

And now things return to a more normal pace, which means totally breakneck -- this weekend we're hosting [livejournal.com profile] yezida's next Feri training, and the list of projects I have for today is huge -- finishing some writing work (which I'm procrastinating about right now), a bit of mud-season road patching, since the tractor's already out (my contractor asked to borrow my backhoe yesterday to help with repair to our septic tank covers which he managed to break by running them over with his heavy machinery while putting on our house addition), much cleaning and moving of things (and cleaning up the various building projects-in-progress), perhaps some plumbing (installing a new bathroom sink), and if I can get to it, installing and staining the doors to my new office, which just arrived special order and which [livejournal.com profile] lylythe_strega and I picked up last night in the truck -- a double-French door in oak, lots of glass, it's going to look great in there.

And of course, all of that is secondary. My first and, if necessary, only priority is doing whatever I can to help my ravishing partner heal and feel better. She's doing great, stayed up with our housemates last night watching a whole long series of Monty Python episodes -- laughter being excellent medicine and all ;> I picked up flowers and chocolate, and other goodies like a mixed assortment of good Greek olives (I think they're Evil Grapes, but she loves 'em), and a bottle of an excellent Zinfandel (her favorite) that we'll save for after she's off pain meds.

Here's some pics from the last couple of days. The first two are ones Claudia took at the stream the day we went to the hospital, and the others are post-op pics in her room.

A healthy breakfast (tea helps everything)
Impatient patient (ready to go HOME now!)

Speaking of post-op, Rainy, looks like you were right about the healing power of love ;> Just after Claudia came out of surgery, and I was in the post-op recovery room with her (doing my best to simultaneously project "I belong here" and "I'm not here" juju so the nurses would ignore the strict 15-minute visiting rule), we had a curtain pulled around the bed she was in (the post-op room is a big open room with space for perhaps 25 beds, partitioned with curtains and equipment only, so they can bring in portable X-ray and other equipment and roll beds in and out of there quickly if need be). I was giving Claudia ice chips (they're very careful about what they give patients to eat post-op, due to typical nausea issues), keeping an eye on her vital signs on the monitors (had to ask them to set her up with a little oxygen at one point, her O2 level was dropping a bit too much when she fell asleep) and running huge amounts of healing and lifeforce energy through her. She's barely an hour out of surgery, was still a bit groggy from the morphine and other meds, but was systematically checking out her own swallow, tongue movement, vocal quality, facial nerve function (once a Speech/Language Pathologist, always a SLP...) I'm standing next to the bed, she's lying there with her eyes half-closed, letting the energy run through her, and she looks up at me with a mischievous smile and says, "You know what I really want right now? Sex. How about it?" *lol* Ah-yup, she's fine. I told her that the nice nurses were already seriously breaking their rules just by letting me stay, and they'd very likely notice the noises and such and kick me out to the waiting room, and besides, she could probably use some rest, eh? Too funny. Life-force wants to run, irrepressible, you know? ;>

Who knows when, if ever, I'll be catching up here, on email, etc... but know that I'm so very grateful for all of the love and support from so many of you, and I'll look forward to catching up whenever we can. I'll post updates here as I'm able. Love to all, and thank you.

I'm glad everything's going well. I'll keep praying and have her put on a friend's church's prayer list.

Thank you -- all prayers and good wishes gratefully accepted :> You wouldn't believe the range of religious, magickal and philosophical people and groups involved in the healing circle for Claudia, quite an alliance!
