Avalon path info
Mar. 16th, 2006 11:12 amHere's the description for the path I'll be co-teaching at Avalon Camp this year... Do come! The site is an amazing, powerfully magical place, the people are delightful and welcoming, and the theme/story is deep and mythically resonant. There will be much good work, and great good fun to be had -- I'll hope to see you there!
Mysteries of the Shapechanger
by Chelidon and Susan
In your daily life, how many masks do you wear, by what names are you known, into which appearances and aspects do you shift and flow? Are you happy with the shapes you take? How many forms are cast upon you by necessity or outside pressures? Do your masks come from a place of strength, or fear? Do the faces you show the world make you more whole and powerful, or do they fragment you instead? Do they help you find yourself, or do you get lost in them?
To change your form effectively, you must first know your raw material, your self -- who you are, and what you will yourself to be. The deepest act of shapechanging is changing more fully into yourself. Under all of the masks, behind all the glamours, beyond all of the names you take or have been given, what does your true, authentic self look like, and by what names are you most truly known? What would it be like to walk in authenticity, in integrity, whole in all your parts, no matter what shape you choose to wear? What would you look like if you were true to yourself?
Working with shamanic techniques, the power of names, auric sensing and alteration, glamour, aspecting, and other tools and mysteries of the witch, we will explore the forms of our personal mythic landscapes, as well as the tales, shapes and roles others cast us into. We will work and play to divine the truth under the veil, the reality under the illusions, and the deep mystery of learning who we truly are, by changing what we appear to be.
This path is open to all levels of experience. The only requirement is that you come with the desire and willingness to deeply explore many hidden aspects of yourself. All participants are asked to bring a mirror, and whatever tools for changing appearance they wish to explore.

Camp Intention:
Will and desire, freedom and choice, magical creation and
transformation...We step into the ancient tale of Blodweuwedd and
Lleu, Gwydion and Arianrhod, as told in the fourth branch of the
Mabinogion. What is the relationship of human to the wild, and how
does magic change them both? We will explore what is wild within
ourselves, pursue our heart's desires, and step into the deep mystery
and power of creative manifestation, knowing that we are responsible
for all of our choices.
The Path of the Fool
Journeying through three years of priestess training
This year we are excited to offer something new for Avalon Camp: a three year
path cycle.
We are offering training for anyone who wants to develop their skills as a
priestess, whether in a community leadership role or as a solitary witch. We are using the
first three cards of the tarot, the Fool, the Magician and the High Priestess, and the three
souls, Fetch, Talking Self and God Soul, as a structure for the three year cycle. For
the first year we are working with Gwydion as the Fool and as the Fetch or Younger Self. We
will be working with the foundational skills of the priestess, which include energy
work, creating sacred space and ritual design, and working to develop or deepen our
relationships with the land, elements, guides and diety.
This year we welcome people of any skill level to join us. For the second year
of the path (2007) the path will be open to anyone who has taken the first year and any
others who consider themselves to be intermediate practioners. People will be able to
participate for one year or for the full three years of the cycle. For those who take all three
years you will develop totally kick-ass priestessing skills. Bring a tarot of choice, a new
blank journal atleast A4 size (can be an artist's hardback sketchbook or similar), any preferred
art and craft supplies and any ritual tools that you regularly work with.
The Wheel of Arianrhod: Tarot for Life Challenges and Transformations
with Hol and Suzanne
In this path we invoke Arianrhod, Goddess of starlight magic, whose silver wheel sweeps us through cosmic, social and personal cycles of
change and becoming. The Tarot is our guide as we meet the challenges of our lives--who are we? what is our work? what is our destiny?
We explore Tarot not only as a tool of divination, but as a magical pathway into the powers of desire, will, choice and responsibility.
All levels of Tarot experience are welcome. Seasoned reader, sincere novice, or anywhere in between--if you feel called, we invite you to join us in this path.
You are encouraged to bring images, including a picture of yourself, to use in creating Tarot art, and art media you particularly enjoy working with--markers, pencils, pastels, paints, etc.
Bring a deck of your own (or many if you want to share!), a journal, and a willingness to let go of your assumptions and teachings and look at Tarot with fresh eyes.

Date: 2006-03-16 04:58 pm (UTC)About that relationship question you posted, I'd wish I could set aside time to talk more about it with you. That is a very normal struggle, and C and I have found some answers that have worked generally well for us over the last coupla decades. Some of it is luck (finding the right partner), but most of it is just making it work. It's always a balancing act, and things are always shifting and changing, but I know that it can work, if everyone involved is willing and capable of doing the work (and play, most of all, play! :>) If you send me an email and remind me, I'll send you a couple of book recommendations. Perhaps after things calm down for me a bit here, I'll be able to chat further if you're still interested.
