local benefit
Oct. 11th, 2005 02:20 pmPaul Asbell, Mark LeGrand and the Lovesick Band, Planet Zydeco, Chris Kleeman, Jeremiah McLane and other special guests including emcee Mark Hauser from The Point will present the Musician-to-Musician Relief Benefit, an evening of performance and dance music to help fellow musicians displaced by Hurricane Katrina with financial, medical and housing needs. The event will take place starting at 7:00 pm on Saturday, October 15 at Lebanon Opera House in Lebanon, New Hampshire. General admission tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling the LOH box office at 603.448.0400 or at www.lebanonoperahouse.org.
The benefit, arranged by Mark Sustic in collaboration with musician friends in Louisiana and New England, is an attempt to both raise funds for the critical needs of musicians in the Gulf, and an opportunity for musicians in Vermont to acknowledge an artistic debt to the blues, Cajun, Zydeco, country and other traditions originating in the Gulf region.
The Events for Tom Series and Lebanon Opera House are presenting the evening with support from Three Tomatoes Trattoria and the Champlain Valley Festival. The performers are donating their talents to the cause and others are donating equipment, facilities, publicity support and other resources. All proceeds to support the Lafayette Music Alliance, designed to specifically help displaced musicians with financial, medical and housing needs.
