being loved
Oct. 6th, 2005 04:30 pmMy six-year-old son came upstairs a little while ago and asked me if I could go with him and his classmates on a school hiking fieldtrip tomorrow. Due to some last-minute changes in my plans, including waiting to install the wood-fired boiler in the house early next week instead of late this week, there wasn't any reason I couldn't go, so I said I would. My son just spent the last ten minutes bouncing around the house telling everyone excitedly, "guess what! guess what! Daddy's coming on the hike with me tomorrow!" :>
A small thing, perhaps, but all the more precious because I recognize there is a very limited amount of time while dad is still "cool," followed by an extended period where the last thing he'll want is dad tagging along with his friends while they go free-climb, etc. I'm enjoyin' it while it's here...
