A friend sent this out this morning, and it made me smile, so I thought I would share it with you.

"Because of Our Wisdom"

In parts of this world water is
Scarce and precious.

People sometimes have to walk
A great distance

Then carry heavy jugs upon their
Heads.

Because of our wisdom, we will travel
Far for love.

All movement is a sign of
Thirst.

Most speaking really says,
"I am hungry to know you."

Every desire of your body is holy.

Every desire of your body is
Holy

Dear one,
Why wait until you are dying

To discover that divine
Truth.

Thank you much for this -- many things are turning over in my mind now that I've read it.

"Every desire of your body is holy" maps very closely in my mind to "My body is a living temple of love," which I found myself singing this morning.

Yay Hafiz.

This seems the cruel end of what Hakim Bey talked about (but akin to "kidnap someone and make them happy") -- I'm envisioning a worldwide hoax/scare -- something sent out over the newswires -- that scientists had discovered that every single person on the planet was infected with something incurable that would kill them in 6 to 12 months.

I wonder if people would change. I wonder if they would do the things they had always meant to do, say all the things they had meant to say, visit all the places they wanted to visit. Or whether it'd just fall apart.

Certainly it's the sort of hoax that would only work once.

You know me... I'm hungry for everyone to wake up and Appreciate. :(

Ah, that gave me a damn good chuckle, thank you. You and me both. In this country, I think the first thing most people would do is run out and max out their credit cards buying all kinds of crap. Whoops...back in the box, you cynical bastard! ;>

Not that I hold myself up a the model of enlightment in any way, but it really does wrench my heart to see how many people everywhere are stuck on the treadmill, blinders on, while the precious moments of their lives, their time in this delicious life, on this beautiful world, at this perfect time, with these beloved people, ticks away....tick...tick...tick. And then it's over. And how many people ever truly live before they die? Too few, too few. And that is a monstrous tragedy.

What I can do is to savor each moment like the delicate, delectable jewel it is, and try to spend every moment doing things that matter with people who matter...and as far as possible, have fun doing it :>

Yes. This is one of my favorites. It comes from my favorite Hafiz collection of poetry, 'The Subject Tonight is Love'. Ahhhh, so good.
