a couple of things

In vino veritas. They say wine is good for health, and good for the heart, and recent experience leads me to believe that true, whether it is scientific or not. Ideally, though, it seems to help if it's good wine, preferably, very good wine. Io Dionysos. And Io Ibuprofin.

Two definitions from the kid-flick _Veggie Tales_ version of "Jonah and the Whale," as related to me recently by my quite wise partner;

Compassion -- To wish and do well for another person. Compassion, like love, is an active choice, not a passive attitude.
Mercy -- forgiveness, regardless of whether it is deserved

And from one of my favorite books, John Crowley's Little, Big:

"In winter," Grandfather Trout said, "summer is a myth. A report, a rumor. Not to be believed in. Get it? Love is a myth. So is summer."

May our lives be rich in myth, rich in winters followed by summers, and rich in love.
