ahem.
Dry tech last night, wet tech tonight (for non-theatre-folk, not nearly as exciting as it sounds, is a full run-through the production with lights and sound), dress rehearsal tomorrow, then opening night, which will be full of friends and family in the audience, which is of course nice, but still. I guess we'd better nail it by then ;>
Got back home last night about midnight, which meant almost seven hours of sleep, a luxury! I took my Ravishing Partner out to lunch today, because with her leaving for work in the wee hours of the morning before I get up, and me coming home well after she's asleep, it was the only chance I have to see her in days.
I even managed to fit in a couple of hours of skiing Sunday morning before the all-day rehearsal, was worth getting up at 6am to try out my new skis, an early Yule present because the timing was perfect and the local ski shop had an unbelievably amazing deal that I just couldn't pass up (50% off a new '08 ski that was exactly the model I wanted, and was listed and priced as a "demo" but hadn't ever actually been used). Thank you, Time, and Hail Squat, gentle Goddess of synchronicity!
The show is rather a mess, but there's a good chance it'll all tighten up before opening night. No, really. The women's herding calls/incantations for the Kalevala are hair-raising... The Finnish and Icelandic dancers and musicians we're working with are brilliant, and as well as gorgeously talented, quite the uber-buff eye-candy, too, every one. I can't wait to see the production DVD.
[edit- and a couple of days after the show ends, I'm now taking a last-minute flight to see my last living grandparent, in her mid-90s, who I've just found out is in rapidly failing health. I'm trying not to think about it much until after the show]
