Loreena McKennitt tour

For my Tejas peeps, Loreena McKennitt will be playing in Houston Oct 8 as one of 17 stops in her first U.S. tour in a long while (she'll also be in Baltimore Oct 19)

As lukewarm as her last album was, I'll definitely be going to see her when she swings though New England later in October.

Fooey. She's not coming to San Francisco. I haven't seen her live since 1998. :(

I'm thinking it was about the same for me -- was in Georgetown, I think the Mask and Mirror tour.

She was touring on Book of Secrets in the late 1990s -- I interviewed her around that time for the Chronicle, got tickets to the show, got to see her backstage. She's lovely and gracious in person, almost as much so as Lisa Gerrard. :) She was already planning to take some time off after that tour, but then her husband died, and ... well, I'm just really glad she's back to music again.

Ah, what a lucky circumstance! And one of my favorite musicians/composers, whose songs still evoke an entire period in my life. Ditto on the gladness.

C reminded me last night that the first time we saw her live was the Visit tour, when she was playing in a lecture room at a local community college near our house. Just her, a piano and her harp -- no band, no sound system besides a simple mike. It was amazing.
