It deals frankly with the coming impacts of Peak Oil, which will likely be even more pronounced in Ireland due to their almost complete dependence on imported oil, a shift away from a local, low-intensity agricultural economy towards rapid industrialization and increasing emulation of an American-style model (heavy car use, suburban sprawl, etc). In other words, sprawl and a car-based culture is not only environmentally destructive, it's also incredibly fragile...
