For anyone interested in the magickal arts of storytelling, myth, or writing, or the awesome power of truth-telling in your own life, this will be good work, and much fun, too. For anyone who doesn't already know Crow, she is an amazing, powerful truth-teller and teacher, and a multi-talented published writer. I would love to see you there.

Speaking With True Tongues
a weekend workshop of Sacred Storytelling
with Chelidon and Crow
Friday evening, June 22 - Sunday afternoon, June 24, 2007
in Austin, Texas

What would it be like to speak with the tongue of truth, to tell our stories -- the stories which want to be told, and which need to be told, right here and right now?

Storytelling, through written word, spoken tale, song, music, dance, drumming, drama, or any other form, is a deep and sacred calling. Storytellers are truthtellers, and the world needs a solid dose of truth. There are Human, Faery, and Ancestor stories -- among others -- that all need to be told and heard, in order that their magick might enter and change this world and all the worlds. Which stories are yours to tell?

We all know that stories have awesome power. We have all been touched, and changed, by stories, and we have all seen stories work their life-changing magick in the world. The right story, told at the right time, in the right way, can accomplish more than gold, armies, politicians or kings ever can. Stories are vital, primal seeds of change, with the insistent, juicy potential to crack through bland barriers of the usual and grow out into the world, spreading transformation. Stories create the worlds we live in. Stories can heal us, and they can heal the world.

True words have awesome magickal force. Fairy tales, whether or not literally true, teach us exquisitely true things about all the worlds. At the other extreme, oral historians in ages past could be put to death for telling false tales about the history of the people, because it was recognized that they held the power to change history. The satirical and magickal stories told by bard and druid were feared even by king and nobles, for skillful words had the power to literally kill in this life, as well as ensure the living death of someone's reputation for countless generations to come.

In this workshop, we will call upon and work deeply and intimately with the storytellers, those ancestors of blood and inspiration, and with our own deep sources of truth, wherever and whatever they may be. Who and what are our own wellsprings of deep inspiration, and how can we drink deep? How do we open to that quiet, still place where we can hear the voices of the ancestors and Mysterious Ones, as well as listening to our own inner voices? How can we find the true stories that want to work their way out into the world at this time and place?

You do not have to consider yourself a good writer, or even a writer at all, to come and to get value from this class. All that you need is a passion for the telling of those tales that need to be told, and of speaking with a true tongue. We all have stories to tell, and we all hold truths which must be spoken. If you hear the whisper or roar of tales which are calling on you to be told, come and join us in this sacred work and play.
