This -- Twilight of the Gods: Polytheism in the Hebrew Bible -- looks fascinating.

This one (God Against the Gods: The History of the War Between Monotheism and Polytheism) I bought but before I could get to it, loaned it out to someone who hasn't returned it and I don't remember who...hmmph. Another one to re-add to the reading list.

Oooo, I have got to add those to my must read list. I've almost gotten the point that I require folks to leave their car keys with me before I will let some borrow a book of mine.

Seriously. I've lost more books...grr. Last one was a wonderful out of print copy of many of Alta-Tadema's prints, and then there's all the books I don't remember that I don't have anymore ;>

Then there are some books, like Holdstock's _Mythago Wood_ and Crowley's _Little, Big_ that I routinely keep two copies of on hand -- one in the "permanent collection," and one to circulate.
