"Long-time residents think winter just isn´t what it used to be in New England. And mounting evidence from a series of studies suggests they’re right."
No kidding. We're into serious winter season here, mid-January, and it didn't get below freezing at all today, tomorrow and Friday we're expecting highs in the mid to high 40s and lows well above freezing, then a seasonably cold day or two, then back to the 40s again next week. Unheard of... Right now it's coming on midnight, still above freezing, and rain, rain, rain coming down, melting all the lovely snow. Terrible for skiing, too, and can make for icy conditions, which is one of the things I used to bitch about in Maryland. On the other hand, I didn't have to fire up the wood boiler at all today (been running off the heat I stored in the water tank yesterday), and if it keeps up like this, it'll add a couple of weeks to the growing season in the Spring...
Still, this is creepy. If it keeps on like this, I'll have to go up to Canada for any real winter weather.
