a slice of life
Jan. 9th, 2006 04:33 pmThe house to myself, a steaming hot cup of some local dark-roast coffee, a bowl of excellent lime-mango salsa (if mediocre chips, *sigh*). Coltrane playing, and I just finished and sent off a writing piece that's been giving me grief for a week and suddenly came together in about 2 hours, so there's a moment of rest, a brief pause before throwing myself into the next project. And after a weekend with 20+ people constantly running around the house, it's so damn...quiet. The snow dappling the trees outside is shining in deepening twilight, as if it had captured and held a bit of daylight, and last year's curled leaves on the young birch tree tremble gently in the teasing breeze. And Cab singing Minnie the Moocher comes on, and then Inamorata by Vas, and...I stop and think for a moment, how incredibly, unbelievably lucky I am to be where and when and with whom I am in the world. Love is. And life is, so very, very sweet.
